One lucky couple will be able to take a Bahama’s cruise in the Abaco Islands for a week on “Intermission,” the 42’ Kadey-Krogan trawler yacht owned and skippered by Brian and Theresa Palmer, of Dugspur, Virginia. First Mate Theresa, a gourmet galley chef, will prepare your meals on board. Another traveling companion will be Second Mate Shamus, their very quiet and well-behaved Irish setter. The initial Port of Call will be Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island. Shelling on beautiful beaches and swimming in turquoise water, roaming through the quaint villages of the “family islands” near Marsh Harbour, and enjoying sunsets on deck during the cocktail hour will make this a memorable cruise. Who wouldn’t want to take home this adorable AKC registered Golden Retriever female puppy?  She was born on December 18, 2011 and is from award winning Westergaard Kennels in Oak Ridge, NC.  They have over 31 years of experience in breeding Golden Retrievers.  The puppy’s father is an AKC champion show dog.  This little one has a sweet disposition and will make a great family pet.  Crate is included.

We are excited and fortunate to have Kelly Rightsell along with 9 local JDRF children create a one of a kind piece of artwork for this evening.

Children, pets, patterns, fresh colors and unique perspectives define Kelly Rightsell’s art.  From impressionistic paintings to precious children’s room décor, it comes as no surprise that the major influences on her artwork have been her love for children and animals.

 Her love for children is truly expressed by her painting presented this evening entitled, “Faces of Hope”.  Kelly shared her talents with these budding artists from the JDRF Triad Chapter.  The thousands of finger prints on the painting represent the thousands of finger pricks each of these children endure each year.  The word, “hope” is representative of what each of these children possess in their hope for a cure.  Kelly has truly been a face of hope to these children for her wonderful contribution. 

 A special thanks also goes to former board member, Sam Froelich, for documenting this project from start to finish.
